My Vaccination Experience

The title doesn’t quite elaborate on what this blog is actually about. This blog is a sort of ‘time capsule’ that I’m going to look back on after the Covid era finally ends. Because this isn’t just a vaccine. It’s my contribution towards ending this life-pausing pandemic.

I had taken my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine along the end of July. The government here had just announced the distribution of the vaccines to people of the age group 12-16. After weeks of registration and enquiry, my dad had finally landed me and my brother our first dose vaccine slots. Despite all the registration and enquiry to be done, the vaccine shot only took merely 2 minutes. While the needle did sting, it didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would.

I didn’t have any dramatic symptoms. the muscle around the site of injection and my bicep were sore for about two days but that was about it. I wouldn’t say the same about my second dose though.

I’d definitely describe myself to be slightly more tolerant to pain than the other people in my house. So I didn’t really expect to suffer so much. A few hours after my dose, only my arm hurt but I think all of hell broke loose after I went to sleep that night. I didn’t get an ounce of sleep and for some reason, Sleep-deprived me thought I was going to die. I realized it was quite dumb when I woke up. I had a fever the next day.

Despite all the sickness I felt after my second dose, I think it’s all worth it because at the end of the day, we all have the common goal of the ending the pandemic and going back to the way things were before. I too hope this COVID pandemic ends at the earliest and all of us get vaccinated and get to start fresh towards a new path.
