Cycling : My first step towards Healing Myself

I’ve started having new hobbies and one of them is cycling. Cycling has become very relaxing and delightful for me nowadays. The COVID pandemic, an escape from reality a while ago (in a good way), has become frustrating now that it’s gone on for far too long. “Cycling is not a sport, it’s a lifestyle.” This quote has been making a lot of sense to me. Even the most un-athletic person can get on a bicycle. I’m not sure what other people experience when riding a bicycle but to me, it’s a sense of freedom and independence. Feeling the breeze while you cut through the air in your two wheeled bicycle is a whole euphoric experience on its own.

Riding my bicycle is also a sort of reassurance to me. Usually I’d have to ask my parents to take me places because I don’t have a vehicle of my own but with public transport open for everybody, things like riding my bicycle to places or taking the metro has become a pleasant plan in my head. As I’ve just only started riding my bicycle more frequently, all I do is take a couple dozen rounds around my compound but someday I hope to go on a long bicycle ride with myself or maybe even with two of my best friends in the future.
